Majorda beach after Sunset

Off late a lot of people have been asking me “How many days are enough for South Goa?”, “Where to Go in South Goa?”, “What not to miss in South Goa?” So here is my take on South Goa:

South Goa has a lot to offer if you are aim is relaxing and getting close to nature. Away from the hustle bustle of the north here, you can stay in beach cottages and spend whole day at beach without much local crowd interfering with your tanning and bikini sessions. Though Colva and Palolem are 2 of the most famous and frequently visited South Goa beaches but you should keep Colva only for Water sports. Following are my suggestions for you to create your itinerary.

Stay at Cavelossim or around it, so that most of the not to be missed places in south Goa are within a drive of an hour or less. And also if you are travelling in the season keep a Saturday night for the Headphone party.

Day 1 Relax at Cavelossim beach get soaked in Sea and Sun and visit Mobar beach.

Day 2 Head to Dhudhsagar water fall in the morning. You can take a tour/cab which will take you to the waterfalls and drop you back or you can drive all the way to falls. It’s a 2 hour drive, keep 2-3 hours for the falls and then 2 hours back. You can also take elephant shower at Dhudhsagar. Once back you can head to Martins Corner at Betalbatim for Dinner.

Day 3 Post breakfast head to Cabo de rama fort there are stairs at the back of the fort that take you to hidden beach. Head to Agonda beach for lunch. Post lunch and a stroll at the beach go to Palolem you can take a walk in the morning and then head to the beach. There is option of kayaking at Palolem if you wish otherwise play in the water and make sand castles. There is a Headphones party “Silent Noise” at the southern end of Palolem beach It starts at around 10-11 PM and goes until atleast 3 AM 2 hours there should be good but you can spend as much time as you wish. This happens only on Saturdays so switch Day 3 with any of the day that is Saturday in your itenary.

Day 4 This is the day when you have leverage of getting up a bit late. Head to Colva at around 2PM for Water sports (do not eat much before water sports have heavy breakfast and delay lunch for after water sports) and as soon as you are done with the water sports leave for Majorda. Majorda is one of the best beaches to get into water in south Goa. Relax in water and at beach shacks. The water is very clean here and you can spend hours in water here. Post this relax one of the beach shacks sip a beer and watch the sunset. Choose the shack with the most beautiful set up and have dinner there.

Day 5 Relax at Cavelossim or any near by beach and head back to where you came from.

Whether or not you like partying, Headphones party is something you must experience. With restriction on loud music on South Goa beaches post 10 PM this came up as a solution. Of late more than a solution, this itself has become a unique and quite a crazy way to party. You get headphone which receive wireless signals from 3 DJs, you can switch to any of the three and listen to your kind of music so you might me dancing to Punjabi songs while another friend is on Despacito and yet other in your group are grooving on trance, together. And if you remove the headphones you will see everyone dancing without any music.
