Trip to Malana

It was long weekend and we were thinking of going on a trip just as every Delhiite does whenever a long weekend comes up. Just then a friend called up and asked if we wanted to explore Kasol this time. Our answer was “yes” of course. Initial plan was to visit Kheerganga, Pulga, Kasol, Tosh & Malana altogether but with only 3 days in hand, we decided to go for Kasol & Malana only this time.Start-of-trekking-route-to-malana

Malana, as everyone knows is famous for the malana cream. Malana cream which is openly sold there, is considered to be the best hashish in the world. No wonder, those who love to smoke up, are crazy for it. Honestly speaking, without knowing much about it, I did go with an intention to try it once but the moment I started walking on the roads to Malana, from Kasol, I just lost the thought of smoking up.Way-to-Malana

What I feel is Malana is popular for all the wrong reasons. Everyone has been so high here to talk about the beauty of this place.
Malana is one such location I had been craving to see in my life. No pollution, no cars, no such shitty people to judge you. Malana is a secluded beautiful city exposed to so many mesmerizing mountains and clouds. It’s so serene and blissful that you would want to stay here forever.

I really don’t have much words to say so here are few pictures that would speak for Malana, itself:

So, after being lost in the atmosphere, I decided to stay sober and blog than being high on the malana cream. This might not happen with each of you but those mountains did pump me to pick up my phone and start writing.

Be cautious about these things when you visit Malana:
  1. Infectious plants: There are some infectious plants on the trek to Malana so just stay away from them. Don’t worry if you get bruised by one. It’s fine. Just wash your hands with cold water right after, the swelling if any would go away in a while!
  2. Untouchable People: Remember there are rules by the people. You can’t touch them, it’s not allowed.
  3. Don’t touch Temples: Just be away from the temples else you would be charged heavy fines.

Everywhere it’s said Malana trek is simple. Believe me, its not that easy, it’s short and that’s the only advantage. Just 1 – 1:30 hour killing trek and you’ll be there.

The day we were supposed to trek back, overnight stay was banned in Malana. We were lucky to have been able to spend a night there, not sure if you can do that now or not. Check with the locals, before planning your stay there or just go in the morning and come back by evening, that’s going to be fun too.

Go for Malana, it’s amazing!
