Must Eat Places In Goa - Chicken Gyros - Thallassa

Goa, famous for its sea food has a lot to offer apart from just the sea food. I had earlier shared a list of pure veg places in Goa which can give most places across India a run for their money. Well Goa still remains a paradise for Non-vegetarians and hence here is a list of must eat places in Goa. Yes, the following restaurants have fared quite good in vegetarian dishes too (as many as I have tried).
Also let me make it clear these are not rankings. They are just in an order because well I had to put them in some or the other order.

1. Thallasa, Vegator – Greek Mediterranean Food

Chicken Gyros - Thallassa

This is one of the good sunset points in Goa, the advantage it has over others is the amazing food you get here. Stays closed from 1st June to Early-Mid October for monsoon. At dinner time there are some dance troops sometimes or people casually start dancing and grooving to the DJ most of the times. Prior booking is advised.
Our Recommendation – Gyros

2. Burger Factory, Anjuna – Burgers

Burger Factory - Anjuna

A small burger joint on the way to Anjuna beach it is easy to miss so keep an eye on right side, it comes some 200 meters before Starco Junction. If you like burgers, this is a must try place for you. And the chips they serve along are amazing.
Our recommendation – Bacon-Avocado

3. Edwards Yard, Goa Velha – Chinese, North Indian, Goan

Edwards Yard

Away from the touristy locations close to nature, this place is where you can stop for Goan or for north Indian cuisine while on your way from North to South Goa or other way round. This place has outdoor seating and a nice ambiance and you will find mostly Foreigners or Goan dining in here.
Our Recommendation – Chicken Cafreal, Chicken Gold Coin

4. Martin’s Corner, Betalbatim – Goan, Seafood, Chinese, North Indian

Martins Corner

Probably one place everyone will suggest you to eat at on your trip to South Goa and rightly so, it serves finger liking Sea food as well as Chinese cuisine. It was a popular place for long but rose to fame when Sachin Tendulkar said this is his favorite place to eat at in Goa. Not only Sachin but other sports personalities and most of Bollywood dines here when they are in Goa. Go there and check out why.
Our Recommendation: Prawn Masala fry, Rava Fry Fish and Chopsuey

5. Black Sheep Bistro, Panjim – Seafood, Continental, European, German

Black Sheep Bistro

Located in Panjim main market near Mahalaxmi temple this place is not tough to find! Choosing what to order though is quite tough. They are passionate about what they serve and to top it up they serve some great cocktails, the traditional ones with a little touch of their magic.
Our Recommendation – Chicken Wings, Stronganoff

6. Baba Au Rhum, Anjuna – Italian and French

Baba Au Rhum - Anjuna

This is a 9 to 6 place, but nothing like your office. Yes the only bad thing about this place is that it closes at 6 PM. Near Anjuna, it will be a little bit of a task to find this place but it’s totally worth, it feels you are dining in middle of a jungle. They have a small menu designed with love and extremely carefully.
Our Recommendation – Wood fired Pizzas and Herculean Burger

7. The Fisherman’s Wharf, Cavelosim – Continental, Goan, Seafood, North Indian

Fisherman's-Warf

Go there sit for hours, have some sea food, sip a couple of drinks and relax. Location, Ambiance, Food, and the relaxing feel is what this place is all about. Enough said!
Our Recommendation – Prawn Balchao

8. Brittos, Tito’s Street, Baga for Desserts

Brittos

We aren’t talking about Britto’s the Beach Shack, but about the small take away cake shop from them on Tito’s Lane. And it opens till late, late enough to cater to the crowd who are tired after partying. They serves puffs and pastries among other things like sandwiches. When on Tito’s lane, have your dinner where ever you please but do have your desserts here post dinner.
Our Recommendation – Blueberry Cheese cake, Choco lava

9. Barrels and Bones, Panjim – Steak, American, Pizza

Barrels and Bones

In the bylanes of Panjim in Fontainhas to be precise, lies a barrels and bones. Being from Delhi the bench mark for a good pasta has always been Big Chill and this place came close to it. Apart from Pastas they also serve great pizzas and steak. Of my numerous visits to this place I have found the services has been swift at times but slow at others times, and courteous every time.
Our Recommendation – Mix Sauce Chicken Pasta, Pizzas

10. Hotel Anandashram, Multiple locations – Seafood, Goan

Anandashram

This is the place where locals eat. There are multiple Anandashrams in Goa, I tried the one at Altinho, Panjim. Most of the places serve taste which is more suited to tourists but if you want to try authentic Goan this is the place. You will fall in love with Goan fish thali in one visit.
Our Recommendation – Fish thali

11. Cluck Tales, Panjim – European, Goan Fussion

Cluck Tales

A relatively new entrant in Goa food scene but the chefs are not new. The chefs have traveled the world exploring various cuisines and created a fusion of European and Goan Cuisine which makes this place unique. They cook their chicken on Lava Stones. Discovered by chance this place is evolving each day. Keep it as a must go on your next trip to Panjim.
Our Recommendation – Lava Stone Cooked Chicken
